Do any of you suffer from CTS? My rheumy is suspecting I've got it and it's causing my Tendonitis problems in my elbow also.
He wants to start cortisone shots in my elbow. That worries me. But the pain is annoying to me.

I had tendonitis issues in my wrist prior to being diagnosed w/ SLE but the pain went away when i started prednisone...maybe that will help you instead of shots? personally i refused the shots and just dealt with the pain because i heard they hurt really bad and dont really work. My dad had them for CTS and said they werent worth the money...

I tried cortisone shots when I had issues with my hip and lower back...and years ago with my ankle. It hurts going in, but definitely feels good when the needle is pulled out!!! The negative part is that the relief does not last (for me a week to ten days was all I got). You can sometimes get relief with exercises that can be taught to you by a physical therapist. That also takes awhile to take effect, but I almost think that the relief lasts longer and it helps to strengthen which ever tendons are affected.

I've heard too many horror stories about
cortisone shots in joints...joint deteration....painful...not worth the cost...
I bought a brace yesterday to see if it helped....My elbow pain went away :)
The problem is when I take it off it my hand starts to hurt and my elbow too.
I hate the restriction of the brace though.
I'm going to my PCP tomorrow for bloodwork and I'll ask about
what I need to do to help it get better. I might call my rheumy about
getting a brace that is specially fitted for me.
