How do you deal with the inflammation in your scalp? My scalp feels like someone has tried to yank my hair out by the root. The doctor suggested bags of frozen rice - it isn’t even a decent quick fix. I have been dealing with this since November of last year, diagnosed myself in May since three doctors couldn’t see that I had discoid lupus. I have been on the anti-malarial medication for approximately a month and a half (no noticeable signs of improvement yet). My head feels like something is trying to drill into my brain and my head is reeling.
I have been considering cutting my hair very short but fear what I may end up looking like. I know it is probably more vanity than anything else but . . . my hair has always been long (it is past my bottom), thick, naturally curly hanging in spirals or ringlets. I have less than a fourth of the hair I once had and it continues to fall out. The doctor has said that the patches where I have the most hair loss will come back but most likely be grey. What is coming back is like fine baby fuzz and the growth of the rest of the hair is weak. My concern is that what might come back could have curly and straight patches with spots of grey. (I can just see myself looking like a skunk. LOL) I guess my question is, when your hair came back what was it like, did it return to pre-lupus condition?
Thank you for any and all suggestions.
Hugs,
Jeannie
