Doc appt today, wish me luck.

I have a doc appt at 2:00 today. I'm hoping she will say. " Oh I know what you have, it's no biggie" but I don't know.
I've been so sick all week. I palpitated my knuckles last night so I can pinpoint which ones hurt. Wow...big mistake. My hands hurt so bad and swelled up and I felt like they were glass and if I were to bump them on something they would shatter. I pray this is not what my future holds. If I'm up walking around more than 15 minutes I end up limping from the hip pain. I really don't think my husband understands the pain I am in since I really don't look sick. My eyelids are no longer swollen and my face only has a faint blush now. Well I will post after I see doc. Please wish me luck :)

Can you consider taking your husband with your to your apt? A lot of times the rhuemy can help explain to your husband how the pain is or what is causing the pain in a way he can understand. Keep us posted!

It's not a rheum it's my regular doc. It's only been the last two weeks that I've gotten sick. I haven't been diagnosed with anything and I hope not to but after reading these forums it sounds like an autoimmune issue. With the fatigue, joint pain and rash on my face I'm guessing lupus. But I'm hoping not. I'm sure ill have a lot of bloodwork today and we"ll see what happens. I just know I can't live with this pain indefinitely. I will post after I see doc. Thank you so much for the advice, I really do appreciate it!

Saw the doc. She did bloodwork which willbe back today. Not sure which tests she ordered. I don't think she did an ana. She is thinking maybe sepsis or some infection. She mainly focused on my hip pain and said maybe a disc problem. I told her I don't see how that explains all the other joint pain and she was like "oh your right its systemic" she was dismissive of my red face and the lesion I have on my face. She said " oh that's nothing"
I did not tell her I suspect an autoimmune issue as she is the doctor and did not want to lead her. She is sending me for an MRI of hip. She said if its not an infection she really has no idea. If I don't feel better soon I will ask for a referral to a rheumotogist. I like my doc, she is very nice but not sure she has much experience with this type of thing. I think I'm feeling a bit better but sometimes it seems that way. I get a little energy so I get up and get a couple chores done and after I feel just exausted. I guess ill just have to have a wait and see attitude.

I definitely recommend a rheumy. As you said, most primary care or internists just don't have experience (or training) in autoimmune issues.

Thank you Lynn. If my symptoms don't improve in a few days I will ask for a referral for the rheum.
