Disability/Insurance

Hey everybody!

I was just curious if anyone has any advice or thoughts on disability? I've never applied before, but my husband's supervisor at work suggested we look into it because I cannot work full-time anymore, & my husband's insurance covers less & less for me each year. We are getting really frustrated and just not sure what to do. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Thanks for the info! This may be a stupid question, but if I was approved for disability, would I still need insurance through my husband, or does that cover insurance as well??

2 year waiting period on getting medicare.
You can get pre-existing insurance but you have to be without insurance for 6 months before your approved and have a letter of refusal from a company you were turned down from.

I don't know about raw Medicare, but there are a variety of options, called "Advantage Plans" that you pay for on top of Medicare. Some of them are pretty good. I use a Humana plan and it has covered everything I've needed. Covered both the Drs I used before the plan and new ones without issues.

No, you don't have to have a,b,c&d - the advantage plans have different combinations and often it's best to choose based on your prescriptions, believe it or not! You pay for b, get a automatically, and the advantage is c-d, depending. The SSD & Medicare websites describe it very well, and the insurance companies also do a good job. It takes a while to see how all the puzzle pieces fit (thus kinda' good for the wait period, lol), but they do fit together nicely and give you lots of options.
