Hi all I may have asked this before, if so sorry. I believe I could have lupus but my symptoms are pointing more towards lyme

Does anyone here have muscle twitching all over their body, constant? My EMG was clean (thank god), and I have pains too along with extreme joint cracks

Hi King, I do remember a couple of posts from you asking about the twitching . . . I'm so sorry I'm don't have any helpful information for you. This must be very frustrating along with the other symptoms you are dealing with (the buzzing, vibrating and joint cracking). I sure hope you find some answers soon. I do want to ask you a favor. We are asking each member to edit their signatures so that they are no more than 10 lines (even a blank line counts as one line). Remove blank lines before and at the end of the signature (these take up space too). Lengthy signatures use up forum resources and slow down the speed at which pages reload. So thanks for your help in keeping the forum running smoothly. I hope some of the other members will be able to shed more light on the muscle twitching. Blessings!

Muscle twitch is my middle name. Drove me nuts for 2 years, then slowed down. I had it almost constantly migrating around everywhere, now I just notice it sometimes. However, what happens now is muscle jerks. My hand or leg or arm will just visibly move! No control on that.

Yep that is me. I have had twitching ALL over every day every hour for over 3 months. Some are deep and light and very fast others are hard and slow and I can see them. You name it, it twitches. Lately my thumbs have been jumping up. I feel like a popcorn machine

Someone did say that this is usually not associated with lupus though.


Sound like we have the same thing going on. Do you have the joint cracking too?

Hi..I'm not sure, but the muscle twitches/movement sound more like fibromyia. I have been dx with FM and I have muscle twitches..they will calm down/even go away for months.. I can see mine too... It use to bother me.but since twitches don't hurt, I watch them and say "wow look at that"-LOL:+)

I dont have any of the tender points. The twitching is VERY common with lyme and also was told that most people w lupus dont have twitching. I am on antibotics for lyme now

Hi King,

 

I think you can rule out lupus as the cause for some of these symptoms.  You have a positive diagnosis for Lyme Disease, and that disease will cause all the symptoms you're having.  I'd focus on the Lyme diagnosis and not worry about what if this is lupus. There's no way that a lupus blood panel test would get confused with a Lyme disease test.  I think you have a solid answer as to what your symptoms are caused by.

 

The Lyme forum is very active and you'll find some super support to help you through the treatment.  It's very good news that you don't have lupus.

I am not in a position to dx you of course, but first I would like to say that I hope you get some diagnostic confirmation soon. Sometimes just sitting and waiting is the worst part...not knowing what this is so a course of tx can be started, if appropriate. I have been through the medical gammitt many times myself, and it is very stressful. I have recently started having muscle spasms, and have not yet mentioned this to my Rheumy. I have Lupus, but I also have many other dx's too, which can be difficult. I have stenosis, scoliosis, bulging disks, spondylosis, currently I have commpression fractures @ T-12 through L-5 due to prolonged use of steroids for Lupus and Addison's Disease. I also have RA, obviously Osteoporosis, and Diabetes. Hence the reason it will be difficult to pinpoint where this is coming from Oh yes, I did have a cervical fusion in 93. I don't really have a lot of pain with these spasms or twitches, but they are SO deep and jerk my body so hard it is disturbing. Now, I belong to a Lupus support group specific to Lupus, and I will just mention that quite a few ppl chimed in when I mentioned recently that these spasms had started, so it is possible that some ppl have this symptom with Lupus? I see my Rheumy nxt month the 8th, and am going to mention this to him...he always says "Gail, you are difficult because you have so many things wrong with you". I just laugh and say "ok, well I will just eliminate some ok?". Then we laugh.... But seriously, I am getting frustrated with these because they wake me, and I don't get a whole lot of sleep as it is! I know I haven't given you a lot to work with, but I just saw your post and since I found these frustrating I figured it couldn't hurt to offer a little support;). I did, BTW, have an EEG back in 09, and it came back with some lesions, but of course there can be many reasons for this including Lupus, meds, etc. Mainly this Dr. was concerned with MS, and with other tests he felt I was negative for MS, so that was that.
I truly hope you find some answers and some sort of relief....and peace of mind.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with muscle twitching so bad.

This is a really old post and I don't think King comes here anymore. If you want to start your own thread, I'm sure there will be others along to offer you some support.

Again welcome and I'm sorry you have lupus and the problems you are having.

Hehehe its amazing how old stuff can linger on the net but it struck a note with my twitchs. Still undiagnosed. Rheumy is certain of 3+ cond.
