I'm just wondering if anyone else has had changes in the color of their cheeks.  I don't have the butterfly rash but right below my cheekbones my skin is very blotchy.  When my face gets red, the areas below my cheekbones is a spotty red or not red at all.  I use a very good moisturiser and skin cleanser so my face is not dry.  I am wondering if this is a change related to the UCTD.  Any input would be appreciated.

This is very common, particularly if you are taking Plaquenil. I found once my lupus started behaving better it happens a lot less frequently.

It happens more often if I get hot or am exposed to the sun. I consider it part of the photo-sensitivity of lupus, as my arms do the same thing!

I think some people try to manage it with concealer, but for me my skin has always been a bit sensitive so I just do my normal everyday stuff.

My face goes through so many different changes:
pale
blotchy
dark circles under my eyes
red
sometimes a mix of all of them.

Just call me chamilion face. LOL.

I get the same thing and it can be frustrating.  Sometimes these blotches seem to appear out of nowhere.  I do take Plaquenil and it has changed my facial skin.

I too have blotchy skin over my face. Sometimes it’s very irritating to see such discoloration.

Funny u should mention this....I have developed some weird blotches, but then they turn into little bumps and as I sit watching tv I rub, scratch them and before u know it I have a sore therevand then a scab...grrrr. I now have several of them on my face now and I feel like a teen getting zits! They look terrible, but ya know I guess I should not be surprised as the rest of my skin is getting strange changes too. My arms are very blotchy, skin is thinning(arms), and I have all these "bumps"....like little nodules all down my arms. YUK! I guess if that was the worst I couldn't complain too much, but geez...always seems to be something popping up ya know? I meant to say that I don't have an actual butterfly rash, but I get 1/2 of one...lol. Just on one side of my face and it is on fire when I get it? Good luck...

I get red on my cheeks and my chest and it feels like I'm on fire!  This happens especially in the morning after drinking about a 1/2 cup of coffee - and my coffee is not that hot.  I also get all flushed after taking a warm shower and the redness will last for hours!  Hmmm....up until now I didn't associate it with Lupus but after reading this - it totally is!  I also sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with hot flashes too.  I used to think it was a pre-menopause thing, but I really think it's a Lupus thing.

yes I have been trying to figure out whether all my changes are from pre-menopause too--things are changing and I don't think the doctors can always tell me what is related to what! guess it's a waiting game for me.

I used go have beautiful flawless skin not to brag now it's bad blotchy red n purple clustered blotches on cheeks and jaw line can't understand why it's always there though
