Hi! I am new to this site and i have a fairly new diagnosis of discoid lupus....along with MS and alopecia. Lately i feel like so many little things are happening to me and when I do some research there is always some connection to lupus. My most recent issue is sores on the roof of my mouth, they are so painful!! I am not sure which of my physicians to see for this, primary care, dermatologist, or dentist?? Lol anyone else have these and have any suggestions?

These are sometimes related to Lupus...if you have a rheumotologist I'd start there...otherwise I think primary care since it's probably more systemic than something limited to a dermo or dentist.

My doctor told me to do warm salt water rinses.

I occasionally get mouth sores too. It's been awhile. I will go a few weeks with none and then they'll pop up weekly for a couple weeks and then go away again....weird! Definately do the warm salt water rinse!

Sores in mouth can be due to number of reasons. You should rinse your mouth with salt water. Also you can use baking soda with water and apply it with cotton.

The salt water rinse is good. If they are bad and that does not help there is also something available by prescription. It contains lidocaine. I used it when I had shingles on the face and had some in my mouth. I have not needed it for sores with the lupus, so for the salt water works.
