Not looking forward to major foot surgery!

 I'm having a foot surgery Thur. and will be in cast 8wks. I've been needing this surgery for years and it needs to be done "born with abnormal feet". The Dr. is going to work on the whole foot! " Yippee turn !!"lol.  I have been to Podiatrist's which sent me to an Orthopedic he sent me to Neurologist and from there to Rheumy. I should have been to the Rheumy years ago.Not having a solid diagnosis has me spooked about how rough this is going to be. I have broken every bone in the right foot before and know how terrible it is. Anyway I know I'm going to have muscle spasms, joints wrecked, definitely no sleep etc.

  I'm just venting a bit but mostly hoping that maybe I can get some advice from good people willing to share their wisdom.

Gosh, that sounds like quite a trial. I don't have any experience like that so no helpful experienced advice to pass on. Just make sure to eat well (clean protein helps healing) and to follow all the pain medication and physical therapy instructions they give you.

I've never experienced anything like that, but I wish you luck in your surgery and healing. I hope when all's said and done you're able to dance the two step with joy.

 Thanks for the replies! Its been a long journey with these sad/pathetic foot. Tomorrow maybe Ill get better one!?! Been so busy getting everything around the house ready I'm so wore out. Thanks for the support. I'll try to get back when I get home. Talk later.

Really I am very sorry to know about the awful situation you are through. Well I wish good luck for your surgery to be successful and you would really have a good and normal life ahead without any pain.

Thanks Angelina! I'm back home and doing a lot better than a few hrs. ago! I came out of anesthesia
VERY BAD!!! They got me straitened out a few hrs. later. 2-1/2mths on cast and crutches/ knee walker. I'm going to be miserable not going anywhere or doing anything. I love to tinker" even when I'm not able with the other conditions."
You guys are great! I'll try to get back on here to read yall's posts when I can get my head screwed back on.

hey there..im cecee and i also had foot surgery...mines was a little different than yours. i had poor circulation in my feet which caused  my toes to start dying. they were black and nasty lol. i had to get an amputation to cut off the toes. that was in aug and i healed up by december. unfortunatley it got infected again so now im waiting for it to reheal. I hope you have a speedy recovery :)

Oh Cecee I'm sorry to hear about that!!! I hope you get well soon and get all that mess behind you! My nerve block has wore of and I'm full steam ahead now!?! Please take care of yourself!!!

What's a knee walker, Worthit?

Hey Joy! A knee walker is kinda like a scooter with a pad that you place your knee on and has handle bars for steering. It gives your arms a break and you can also have a basket to carry a few items. With crutches you do good to carry yourself and my arms are killing me now!

Hahaha armpits bruised and burning, stomach,back,arms etc. One thing that the foot Dr.s aren't concerned about is the rest of your body! ;-p

I'd rent a wheelchair if I was you until I got the knee walker.

I have been in your situation, kind of. On new years eve I got a foot fracture and the secound I Heard the Word surgury I wanted to die. All I saw in my head was myself swollen as a hotdog! But my body managed it way better than I tought! My arms was really swollen by all the jumping around.

  Thanks Nicolina! It's been tough and going into 4th week and 6 more to go plus therapy. I appreciate the reply. I hope your foot doesn't bother you too bad with arthritis. Broken bones in the feet are very difficult to heal. Thanks for the reply!
