Is fatigue an issue with uctd?  I know it is with lupus but I am 47 and it's difficult to differentiate whether the tiredness I am feeling is from uctd or just age.  I get tired so easily anymore.  I do a couple tasks and find that I have to rest for a while before I can do anything else.   Sleeping well at night is also a rare commodity so I'm sure that has something to do with it too.

I don't know too much about fatigue with UCTD, but age shouldn't be a factor (unless you think menopause is involved). I would check into the sleeping issue, sometimes our meds mess up sleep and we need medical assistance to obtain restive, restorative sleep.

(I hear that one should wake up with energy, but I haven't felt that way in quite a while!)

Thank you, Lynnwood. Being newly diagnosed, it's nice to be able to discuss what is going on and get a first-hand opinion of what is 'normal'.

I have UCTD and I have fatigue but I am also newly dx. I can't say what is normal.

UCTD is usually a transitional diagnosis when you have symptoms but not clear enough to diagnose a specific overlap disease like MCTD which is what I have.  Any overlap disease can include symptoms from multiple diseases and fatigue can be part of almost any autoimmune disease.  You do not have to have lupus to have fatigue.  And you can have lupus even if the doctor cannot diagnose it.

Bill you seem really knowledgable. My doctor told me only about 10% of cases of UCTD eventually differentiate. But. It seems like from what you said it is much more than that. What is your experience?

I have no idea what the % is that develop clear symptoms.  My early diagnosis was lupus and then mctd with extreme problems with polymyositis.  Lupus hit me really hard as well and scleroderma, which is often part of mctd, seems to have left me alone.

Thank you! I have heard that the longer I am undiagnosed, or diagnosed as UCTD, that it is less likely that it will turn into any of the differential diagnoses.
