Positive ANA, what does this mean?

Hi, I am new to the group. Two weeks ago I went in to see a Rheumatologist to see why I have been having joint pain, stomach pains and fatigue. My mother has RH Arthritis so I wanted to get tested for this as I was thinking these symptoms mimic that of RH. The doctor noticed my balance was off when she did an eval on me and sent me to get blood work. This is what the initial blood work revealed -

ESR-11MM/HR
Anti-Nuclear AB W-RFX- Positive
C-Reactive Protein- 7mg/L
Rheumatoid Factor-7IU/mL
Anti-Nuclear AB Titer-Pattern-1:160
Ana Pattern-Speckled/Homogenous

My doctor's assistant called me saying I tested positive for the ANA and I need to go in for more blood work, I asked her what ANA means and she said she believes it means Lupus. To my surprise, I never heard of this before so it got me really worried. I went in that day to get more bloodwork and here is what the second round of blood work revealed-

Sjobrens Ab, Anti-SS-A/-SS-B- 0.2AI
Anti-dsDNA Antibodies- 2 IU/mL
CCP Antibodies IgG/IgA- 7 units

The assistant called me again and said all my tests that I took the second time came out normal. I was releived to hear this and I asked her so I dont have Lupus? Her response was you need to come in for a followup appt with the Dr to go over your treatment plan. This got me confused- what treatment plan? I asked her what she meant by that she said it is for lupus. It sounds like she already dx me for lupus. I am so confused by all these numbers. My appt isnt until 2 weeks from now and I am worrying about this. Can someone shine some light on this who understands these numbers? Is the CCP high? Do I have RH or Lupus? Could I get Lupus even if no one in my family has had it? If I do have lupus, what restrictions will this cause me if any?

Sorry for the long post, just need someone to talk to who understands this.

I was about to post the same thing as Joy when I saw her reply and she said just exactly what I had in mind!!

The nurse should not have said anything, lupus is not diagnosable from blood tests alone. If she's guessing based on ANA - well, you can have positive ANA from taking some meds!!! You need to have 4 of the 11 symptoms you find by following the 'Diagnosing Lupus' link below.

Try not to worry, nothing drastic will happen in the next 2 weeks and you will only stress yourself out and miss what is going on right now.

Read up by following the link below. The first is more disease-related, the second has a little more information about various tests, ANA patterns, etc.

Thanks for your responses. My follow-up appointment was two days ago and the Dr said that I do not have any diagnosable disease. It could be that we came across too it early on before any real signs show up in my bloodwork. Or I could have it and never get a disease from it. I do have aches and pains in my joints and off and on headaches etc. I'm a little perplexed about it, if I have a positive ANA shouldnt I have something show up in my tests? Do I need to be more cautious of things so as to not exaserbate the "future"disease if any? i am currently in court reporting school and use my hands, I'm starting to second guess this career now with my aches and pains that I am getting in my hands and fingers, now with this positive ANA. I am not sure what to do now.
