Hi Guys,

Happy New Years to everyone.

I was reviewing my health records from my Nephrologist and he diagnosed me with SLE along with my Kidney Disease (IgA nephropathy). Well if he diagnosed me with SLE why is my Rhuemy searching for daignoses? I know she just received my file from them about a month ago. I don't go back til Feb. Any ideas?

Trying to figure out why doctors do what they do is similar to counting the angels dancing on the head of a pin. Anyway, here are my wild guesses.

1) The rheumy didn't see the SLE note.
2) The rheumy knows rheumies are the experts in SLE diagnosis, so wants to double check and come to his/her own conclusions.

Are they doing any blood tests or anything or are you in total wait mode with only Plaquenil & Lisiniprol till the Feb rheumy appt?

Don't let it worry you too much, just wait for your appt. Unless you have alarming new symptoms, of course.

I have had two positive ANA test and that is it. All other blood work comes back normal except slightly high sed rate once but that was when my kidneys first starting acting up and I had swelling in my ankles so bad I had to go to ER. Right now I am taking the Plaquenil, Lisiniprol and Vit. D. My Vit. D levels seems to stay extremely low. I have only had one new symptom that was my forearm started throbbing really bad and my right ring finger started jumping up and down. After that my arm go really hot, swollen and hard. I write everything down since I forget when I get to the doc.

Is your arm still doing that or was that a 1 or 2 day event? If it's still doing it, I'd try to see the rheumy more quickly - ask about taking a canceled appt or something.

That episode only happened once but I still have throbbing in tingling in my arm.
