Hi everyone, I've been super sick with a cold since the weekend and I wondered if immune disease (I'll call it that since now the rheumy is questioning it being lupus or something else) makes colds worse or is it causing me to flare?
Honestly I am in so much pain I can barely move and I'm not getting any better after days of just resting and being off work. I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow but at this point I don't know if I will manage.
I'm taking celebrex but it isn't doing a whole lot. Thankfully my rheumy mentioned when she prescribed it that I can also take tylenol with it when the pain is bad so I'm actually taking that too right now just because it is so awful and everywhere. And I mean everywhere, my back my hips, my knees my fingers, my arms and legs, everywhere! I'm not one to usually lean on pain medication but I've been in tears with this cold/flare/whatever this is.
Just sitting here typing this has caused my back and neck to spazz out and my arms and hands to tense and throb. It's craziness!
I've been taking hot baths, have my heating pads on constantly, tons of fluids (which makes for hobbling to the bathroom such fun lol) vitamin c and all my thousands of other vitamins, chicken soup, sleep sleep and more sleep, you name it and nothing is really improving.
Is it harder to recover from a virus with lupus/autoimmune disease? I would think with my immune system on overdrive I'd have kicked this cold to the curb in no time. Instead I'm the one being kicked and it feels like I fell down a flight of stairs, got up, got hit by a bus and thrown into a streetlight. :P
