Hey all. Hope you're having a low pain/high energy day :)

I have something going on that is causing sores like blisters on my face, scalp,hands, sides etc. It's like boils but I'm not sure if an infection is causing it or the other way around. I also have a very painful lump in front of my ear and I think there is a gland there.

I see my rheumy on Thursday but I'm thinking a visit to the walk in tomorrow might be in order. I work tonight but I'm like a zombie..there's got to be an infection going on. At least that's my guess. Should I wait or just go? Anyone else ever get this?

Thanks for the reply Ash, I am thinking too that I best just go. I've had cellulitis before as well as hot tub foliculitis and this seems similar. No idea what caused it though. Oh well, these are the joys of having a screwy immune system ;)

Are these blisters small? Or large like boils? You may have shingles if it's small blisters. Best to get them looked at sooner rather than later as shingles can become very painful and if left untreated can cause permanent nerve damage and pain.

They are pretty large blisters Lynnwood. I went to an urgent care walk in and they didn't know what it is aside from possibly an infection somewhere. Shingles were mentioned but it's on both sides and maybe because the blisters are large it seemed less likely? It looks like hot tub folliculitis but I haven't been in a pool or hot tub. The bump in front of my ear is the salivary gland apparently and it's swollen. Anyway I'm on antibiotics (again) and can have my rheumy take a look on Thursday.

I've been on antibiotics for something or another at least once a month for the last 8 months. Chest infection, abscessed tooth, uti, cellulitis from a bee sting.. I feel like a walking infection. I'm starting to wonder if the initial infections just didn't clear up. Does that happen? I'm not on immune suppressants, just plaquenil.

I have a heavy duty cortisone ointment and I started putting that on the blisters/sores on Friday night. They throb so much especially on my face and scalp I had to do something. I think it might be helping and now with the antibiotics hopefully some relief will be on it's way. Fun fun :P

Well my rheumy was baffled and concerned about these infections. She sent me for bloodwork and is wondering if I am immune deficient now. I should know within a week or two if I need to see an immunologist. She said my chest is crackling too which explains why I can barely make it up the stairs without my heart racing and huffing and puffing.

How can I have an over and under active immune system at the same time? The antibiotics don't seem to be working and I look and feel like absolute crapola. If I don't see any improvement in the next couple days I'm going to have to call one of these docs I think. I'm pretty upset. I feel like I'm shutting down :(

Thanks Joy, I am doing better now with another round of stronger antibiotics. Hugs back at ya :)
