Hello fellow lupies! I haven't posted here in quite awhile, but am going through something that have led me to log in. My new rheumatologist took me off Imuran for about 5 months because my WBC was low and she wasn't liking it. I've been back on the medicine now for a month. I've had previous hair loss years and years ago, but none in the past several years. All my hair had grown back. In this period of time off the medicine a new patch of hair loss occured and it has just continued to grow bigger and bigger, and now a 1/3 of my head is without hair on the top and it's still thinning every day. My dermatologist recently put me on Clobetasol topical lotion to help see if the hair will regrow. I have refused the steriod injections as of now because I've had them in the past and they severely mess with my sleep.

Has anyone used Clobetasol scalp lotion for alopecia and had success? Any negative noticed side effects? TIA

I haven't tried it, yet.
my hair has thinned a lot, but I still well covered.

My husband has the alopecia and has losted all his hair, it comes back in baby fine and hard to see, I'm hoping it will come back.
He has not tried any lotions, but you can possibly try biotin supplements and biotin shampoo which might help...I've read CoQ10 can help...Don't give up hope, I hope your hair will grow back. So very sorry your having a hard time with the hair loss...

I've tried it, when I was first diagnosed I lost a very large amount and I used clobetasol propionate shampoo, clobetasol propionate .05% topical solution and clobetasol topical solution at .005%. they worked just fine, It grewback quickly, with hardly any residual effects. Now when my hair is thinning my dermatologist says to apply these. I also had alopecia and this eventually when away but during a flare both reappear.

I was diagnosed with Lupus last year in August. I did have some hair loss about one year before being diagnosed. Currently I am up to 150mg of Imuran and I find that my alopecia is worse than it has ever been. I had 3-4 bald spots. Last week I finally decided to shave my head completely to avoid the psychological effect of watching my hair falling out. I have invested in a really good quality wig. I will have a discussion with my rhemy when I visit him next month to explore what my other options are :(
