Hey Sylvia and Lucy......I'm sure my post is too late to do any good but I want to say it anyway. Lol
So Sylviarose said "Vit D is a hard one to figure out" and she is NOT kidding. I believe that there are many misconceptions regarding this topic and I'm convinced that it's a conspiracy. Ok hear me out before you decide I'm a quack. Lol
I've read thousands of medical journals and microbiologist reports on the subject of Vitamin D and it really was super confusing as I am sure they are A LOT smarter than me. However what I did understand was how far down the rabbit hole we go when we get into the actual microbiology of it all. First of all Vitamin D is not a Vitamin at all but rather a Hormone produced by our cells triggered by sunlight. Trying to synthesize it as a vitamin seems ridiculous (to me anyway). So as your skin absorbs sunlight, your cells excrete the hormone forming a protective shield per se around the cell. So by taking Vitamin D tablets in the first place you may actually be confusing your body as the cells "believe" they already have enough Vitamin D, hence they don't form the shield. Then if you get a Bacterial/viral infection, your cells are infiltrated causing them to call for more vitamin D to protect themselves. This would be (what I believe) is the reason for the Vitamin D deficiency showing up in your blood test results when you have any autoimmune deficiency disease. So now because your cells are infected, your own t-cells will attack these cells in an attempt to kill the bacteria/virus that is inside. Hence....an autoimmune disease.
(Please read about Vitamin D for yourself as you might understand it better).
I also read that 15 minutes a day, only TWICE a week (and even if only your Hands and face are exposed) is sufficient to get all the Vitamin D are bodies require.
So here's where the conspiracy comes in. I have always been healthy and spend a lot of time outdoors (I have a yard work business). I was told back in February, by my pharmacist, that I should be taking Vitamin D and I blindly complied and started taking 4000 a day. In July, I started to get extremely sick. I could barely walk or even lift a pillow. I had all the typical symptoms of Lyme disease and had the rash to boot.
I believe, (and this is how I see it) the fact that I was taking vitamin D actually left my cells unprotected and the Lyme infiltrated my own cells. I have now been diagnosed with Lupus.
I'm just curious as to who started to say that we needed Vitamin D supplements as I had always been taught that it was one of the vitamins that can cause toxicity and that's why I didn't take in in the first place. After all, I spend most days outside and even in the winter I get plenty of sunlight.
Are the pharmaceutical companies responsible for this sudden push on Vitamin D? After all, autoimmune diseases are extremely lucrative financially for them. Medications to "manage" symptoms are a constant stream of income as opposed to actually "healing" people, don't you think. It seems completely understandable that our cells show a deficiency of Vitamin D because they are trying to produce more to protect itself and since they are already infiltrated your T cells are attacking them too. I don't know, maybe I'm not understanding these things but I really believe I am sick BECAUSE I took Vitamin D supplements. If you think I'm off my rocker please read about it yourself. But don't read just magazine articles and fluff articles. Go to actual microbiology reports and clinical a finding on Vitamin D by researchers. I feel like I should at least tell people and they can form their own opinion so I'm putting it out there none the less.
Thanks for listening. Lol
