I have sle lupus with NO insurance

First, go and check on your area to see if there is any charity medical service. If there is, call them and see if they have any solution or any facilities for Rhumty. Also, a good internal medical doc should have a general knowledge for lupus, and be able to help, so if the facilities have internal medical doc, still go for it.
Second, go and check some government based hospital, in Atlanta--Grady, they should have financial assistance for the people who cannot afford insurance to apply. They charge according to how much income you have. If you do not have income, they don't charge. You have to check it out in your area. I am not eligible because I am not a citizen.
Third, once you can find a doc and have the needed medication, go to google, and type "patient assistance program." And click on it and see if the agency provide the medication you need. Give them a call, and they shall instruct you what to do. I am also being assisted for prescribed drugs (Cellcept) because my insurance sucks and I cannot afford to pay for it. I got it for a year. As long as you are eligible, you will get the drugs w/i a month, but you need a doc to sign the doc for you.
Fourth, if you are taking prednisole, and you can get presciption, Walmart has a $4 / per month program, and Prenisole is on the list. Go and call Walmart to inquire about this.
When u are able to see a doc for free, tell the doc that u are going to apply for patient assistance program and need him to sign doc for you. And ask him if he can do it and how can u give him the doc. Let him know so that when u mail to him, he will know what to do.
Also the patient assistance program will take about three weeks to process, and once they have your application, it takes about a week for the drugs to deliver. The drug company that is helping me uses Fedex.

Are you sure you received the correct information about medicare? In order to qualify for medicare you must be 65 or over and have at least 10 yrs. with a Medicare covered employment. You must be receiving social security or a pension from the railroad. If you are disabled receiving social security benefits you may qualify for medicare even if you are under 65 years of age. If you have failing kidneys (dialysis or transplant) you may also qualify for medicare if you are under 65 years of age. There may be other exceptions but those are the ones I know for sure. While your premiums may be more (called income based premiums) Medicare is not an income based program. Your husbands income would have no bearing on the qualifying process. Depending on your situation his income may change your Medicare premiums but it would not prevent you from qualifying if you meet the criteria. There are no income caps for Medicare as a progem, just the premiums.
