Hello all.  Went to the rheumy yesterday.......diagnosed lupus.  Started 400mg Plaquenil a day.  No surprise though I knew that is what the results would be.  Feeling a little better today.  Hopefully the sun will stay shining and I can get out of work earlier.  Just wanted to give everyone an update!  Hope all is well with everyone!

Well i am glad you are feeling better and i hope that your plaq kicks in. I say take the whole day off and enjoy the sun!!!!

Stephanie, I'm glad that you got a diagnosis and were able to start treatment. It sounds weird to tell someone you're glad they got a diagnosis, but to be sick and to not have a name for it can be a very frustrating experience. It can take a while for the plaquenil to build up in your system and start to work. Well, enjoy your day! Take care

Thank you everyone. I have been on Plaquenil before with success. The problem that we finally figured out is that the Remicade I am on for my Crohn's is not good for my lupus.......what fun! I am sure I have got a long road ahead of me but hey I have already lasted through over 10 years of wrong diagnoses! Just found out I get to go home early...yea!!!!!

Sounds like you are on your way to feeling better! I can relate to almost feeling happy about a diagnosis. After a while you begin to wonder if you are stone cold nuts. The diagnosis sort of validates how you feel.

It amazes me there is technology to put 1000 MP3 songs on a memory chip smaller than a credit card, one can have a MP3 player in their vehicle and all the other bells and whistles but still it takes so long to get a diagnosis for a disorder that has been prominent for decades. Something simply isnt right with that scenario. Medicine first... toys second. It is terrible what slow progress some of the most important areas of life continue to have.

Stephanie, I agree with Hippi, that it sounds strange to be happy for a diagnosis, but diagnosis limbo can be so darn frustrating! Yes, you do have a long road ahead of you, but the doctors know how to treat you now, and you have all of us who understand what you're going through. So go home early and enjoy the weekend!
