Hello,

For those of you with Lupus, did you test positive for Antiphospholipid Antibodies. If so, could you share with me your levels. I am curious to see the range. I have not yet been diagnosed but doctors are coming close. I am wondering if people with Lupus have these particular antibodies and if so how high.

hey i wrote before but i think there was something wrong with the site at the time so it didnt post...

i have antiphospholipid antibodies althought i am not sure of the exact levels. i know that it is a symptom of lupus though. i have two clots because of the condition and will probably have to be on coumadin or some other blood thinner for the rest of my life...

I have antiphospholipid antibodies. There are IgG,IgM and IgA antibodies(anticardiolipin antibodies). The IgG tends to be the one to watch the most. This one is the highest associated with clotting and stroke. It depends on the labs levels, but these were mine:

IgG -51 (positive was greater than 12)

IgM-49 (positive was greater than 11)

IgA-14(positive was greater than 14) So, I was considered not positive for this one.


A VDRL/RPR test for syphilis contains phospholipids and can cause a false positive result in patients with cardiolipin antibodies. I had a chronic false positive VDRL/RPR test due to anticardiolipins.


I also had the anti human beta2-glycoprotein I (ß2-GPI) assay that also detects antiphospholipid antibodies. It is supposed to be more accurate. My levels were moderately high to high.

Hi I'm Candace.  I have the antiphospholipid antibodies but I don't know what the exact levels are.  I have had a lot of problems with pregnancies and I have to be heparinized.  I usually take a low dose aspirin.  I did throw a clot in my liver but they think it was cause by trauma from my issues with my gallbladder.  I was on coumadin for 6 months but that is all.

I, too, have the antiphosopholipids. I do not know all the levels. But I was recently sent for a VQ scan which showed clots in both lungs despite coumadin therapy. So now I am doing 2x daily lovenox subcutaneous injections.
