Almost, but not quite, dizzy?

Starting this morning before I got out of bed, I'm getting strange spots of not-quite-dizziness. Like the world spins, but not all the way around. I first noticed when I turned over in bed and the room did an extra 1/2 twist. It's come & gone like that all day. Has anyone else ever noticed this? My guess is that my lupus has decided to cause a temporary inflammation of the inner ear or something, and that it will be gone tomorrow or soon thereafter. Meanwhile, it's crazy, and even typing this is causing a like 1/4 spin. Very strange feeling, I assure you, and I really, really feel bad for those people afflicted with chronic vertigo!

Hi Lynnwood, I have know idea about the vertigo but my mom started going through the same thing. She would notice just before she got out of bed. She finally went to the doctor and he said she had high blood pressure. I guess it could be a symptom for a lot of things. I hope it goes away soon.

Possibly an inner ear problem or circulation problem. I get silent migraines and find out that I have them usually when the room starts spinning. I hope that it was just a one time fluke for you and that you don't have them reoccur, I know usually when it starts for me, I can expect them on and off for a few days or maybe weeks.

Lynn, I had my first bout of Vertigo last Jan (07), It lasted 3 days. It was severe though, like spinning out of control and throwing up. Crazy!
I went to the ER and a Neuro for an MRI (just to be save) and they found nothing.
Then started getting bouts of dizziness on and off since.
I know what you mean, like you spin, but not enough to need to sit and your eyes cannot focus all the way.
I went to see an ENT when the plaq gave me the ringing in my ears and when I told him about the vertigo from Jan and the constant dizzy spells, he said it wasn't an infection. If it was an infection, he said I would have had a fever and really falling over dizzy.
This ENT's daughter has lupus dizzy spells. He thinks it's the plaq and or the lupus. I say just the lupus cause I had the dizzies before and after I took the plaq.
Not much more I can tell you. Seems like every little thing we get is a little mystery.
I have started to clean out my ears and doing sinus irrigations with saline and oil of oregano and this has helped me tons.

Feeling better today -- a tiny bit of spinning, but less than yesterday. Pampering myself (ie NOT doing laundry or errands!)

The first few months after being diagnosed I was very dizzy.  It is a hard feeling to describe... it wasnt dizzy like the room was spinning but more a feeling of being off balance and feeling like my head was heavy.  I am sure that sounds absurd but I dont know how else to describe it.  Now that my Plaq. has kicked in I hardly ever experience that feeling and if I do it is near my monthly cycle. 

A few years ago I was so dizzy (this was long before lupus) I was sure I had a brain tumor.  I went to my primary dr. and he said I has so much fluid in my ear he was amazed I could stand up.  Might be something to check out just to be sure.  When I had that infection I never even had a slight earache despite the fluid.

I hope you are not getting the flu or an infection like the others mentioned. When I'm starting the get sick like this dizziness and lightheadidness are my first signs. If this is the case, I hope you get better soon. Please rest and don't worry about us, take care of yourself first. Let us know how it goes at your doc appt.

Lynnwood, I really hope you aren't flaring. You are like me with your normal temperature, so a fever of 100 is prett high. I hope you got in touch with your doc and that you are taking it easy and taking good care of yourself. Take care

Lynwood, I'm so sorry you're still having trouble with this, and I agree with you and Hippi. My normal temp is low too and when it gets up to 100 it really knocks me down. Taking it easy for a few days sounds like good medicine.
