Sorry I've been gone

Hi Everyone,

Got overwhelmed and haven't been reading here but I have been holding you all in my thoughts and wishing you all the best.

I'm happy to see I recognize lots of names on the front page. I just thought I'd write a hello to all before I leap in again and answer a few posts. Have to check out puppies! and write to some folks about Imuran and prednisone (my two meds, just a little bit of poison everyday to keep going).

Hi Sue, it's great to see you back here. I know you've had a lot on your plate with your brother living with you and everything else you have going on. How's your health been holding up? We've missed you here, but I truly understand the importance of taking care of yourself. You are a wonderful and supportive presence here, and we're happy to have you here anytime you are feeling up to it. How are things going with the prednisone - have you been able to stay at 5mg? I've had a hard time going below 10mg this summer, but am hoping that with the kids back in school and the cooler weather, I'll be able to start tapering soon. Take care and it was so nice to hear from you.

It brought tears to my eyes to read your welcome backs. You guys are the best!

My bipolar brother who was living with me had a psychotic episode and I had to have him (struggling for the right word here) put away, committed, locked up, whatever for a while and he is out now in a halfway house. Better for me but still a strain.

Still trying to do the pace yourself thing but I have lots "on my plate" (as do we all). So cheers and, as always, stay strong.

Sue, So sorry about your brother. I had an older brother who sustained a head injury in the service when he was 19 years old and spent his entire adult life trying to compensate for the injuries. Needless to say he was SO misunderstood and it was very hard on him emotionally . . . my heart goes out to you. He had many stays in the VA psych ward as a result . . . very hard to watch. (I used to bring him contraband cigarettes because he enjoyed passing them out to the other patients . . . hee hee heee . . . good for his spirits . . . I was scolded by other family members, but it was fun espionage!!) BTW he spent his last few years in life as his best adult years because of being properly medicated for depression. I hope the docs find the right combination of meds and therapy to help your brother. Some hot tea for you sis!! Blessings!
