I was diagnosed in september with lupus.  yesterday my right eye hurt like something was in it and burned like crazy.  it is continually watering.  this morning i woke up and it is swollenl.  is this at all commmon with lupus or what.

There are some inflammatory problems of the eye associated with lupus ranging from mild to moderate. I would contact the optomatrist right away. Been losing my vision and would hate to see anyone lose theirs. Not to say this is the case in your regard, but it isn't something to mess with. It could be an infection or something inflamed within or on your eye. I was quite shocked when I found out that lupus also affects the eyes, so you really need to get it checked immediately - Good luck - Kristin

You should get your eyes checked ASAP. It could be something as simple as an infection, but it could be more serious and lupus related. I wouldn't wait long to get it checked. Let us know what you find out.

thank you for the advice and i will be getting checked out asap.  i keep rubbing it cause it feels like something is in it and i know that there's not. anyway thanks again

Hi Squirrel . . . If that feeling of something in your eye was like sand or grit . . . you could have dry eye or sjogrens. The watering part makes that a bit confusing . . . but that is actually a good thing as the moisture would help clear the grit caused by the dry eyes. I hope you check with your doc or eye doc so you'll know what to do. Keep us posted!! Blessings!
