I work with a great bunch of people. A few years ago someone had the idea to make a cookbook because we have always exchanged recipes with each other, and we are all working people and want the best recipes that are fast and easy to share with others. Anyways, we decided to make this cookbook and donate all of the money to different charities in our area. I headed up the researching and collecting of recipes and proof-reading and designing the cover. This was a huge project and I worked for 3 months on it, mostly by myself. I'm the only one who doesn't have kids and was on the commitee so I got stuck doing just about
EVERYTHING. Anyways, we have sold so many cookbooks and donated over $1000 to different charities in our area. I have appeared on our local news to advertise and a local paper contacted me for a phone interview to get the message out. Last month at work the girls were talking about
what we should do for Breast Cancer Awareness month and I piped up. I let them know it was also Lupus Awareness month.
Skip to today at work. I was busy with my morning tasks and a supervisor came up to me and got everybody's attention to present me with a $100 check made payable to the Lupus Foundation Wisconsin branch from the cookbook fund. I started to cry and so did everybody else and pretty soon we were all laughing through our tears. When the whole cookbook idea came out, I was honored to sell so many and donate to so many wonderful causes. I never would have asked for them to donate to my cause, because I've always found others who may be in need more than I. But, I have to tell you, it felt so wonderful to receive a check like this for such a great reason. I love my co-workers, and they are such a support to me. They see me everyday and when I'm not doing as well as I'd like, they are right there helping me pick up the pieces. We are a great team and I thank God for putting me with this team of ladies to work with.
I though you all may enjoy this story because its making me cry once again to relive it. It's been a great day!
