More questions.....This new symptom happened to me once before about 2-3 weeks ago.It happend in the middle of the night while in bed after one of my sleep cycles.Anyway,my scalp was numb and tingly.Only on one side of my scalp nit my entire head.It scared the crap out of me but only lasted a few seconds.I was laying on my pillow in an awkward position and when i turned my head it went away in a few seconds but this is the second time it happened and it's very strange.I also noticed some numbness and tingling in my fingers during sleep but never during the day or when i'm awake.What the heck is this????????? I will be calling my Rheumy today but it's making me afraid to go to bed now.

Anyone experience this??

So sorry Fran! Lots of numbness and tingling for me. I often need to prop each limb with pillows or rolled towel to arrange myself just right to try and avoid this. Yes. . . when it happens to your head it is scary. I once could not feel my arm AT ALL. I picked it up by the sleeve and dropped it and shrieked out loud. I thought it had actually died. I really don't know what causes this, but have mentioned it many times to the docs. I really think it has to do with inflamation. I'll look forward to seeing other responses to this post. Blessings!

Thanks for the quick response.I feel a little better knowing that others had this too.I'm still waiting for my doctor to call me back.It was VERY SCARY.It took me a few seconds to realize it was only my scalp and that i was having a stroke or somthing.

Hi Fran, count me in. I get a numb feeling on my head sometimes that almost feels like bugs crawling around inside my skin all over my head. I get the numbness in my face and my hands as well. It's weird in my hands because I'll just be standing talking to someone and my arm will be hanging down. It will feel like I have a rubber band around my wrist or somthing and I have to shake it out.
I understand the fear of a stroke that's exactly how I feel when the numbness starts in my face and head. Let us know what the doctor has to say

I can understand the arms being numb. Im so sorry you had such a scary experience. Hopefully your rheumy will be able to help you with that. I would be scared as well. I agree with alwaysrosie though, and you should use pillows to prop up your limbs. It really does work! *Hugs* I hope you feel better!

Hi All,

i spoke with my Rhuemy and primary MD...Rhuemy said in a VERY STERN tone....NO,not related to Lupus.I said well then what the heck was it?? She said maybe Parasthesia<sp> or maybe it was nothing.I felt like i was bothering her so i left it alone and called my Primary.Primary said...could just be the possition i had my neck in while sleeping and cut off the circulation to my scalp.It was sleeping in a very awkward position so maybe it was that....he said that if it happens again to call him and we will look into it.

My mom read online somewhere that you can get tingling and itching sensations in the scalp with Lupus.

Anyway,if it happens again i will demand more answers.

I really hate that your doctor treated you like that. Sadly there are alot of them out there. Don't ya just want to tell them if they don't like their job mc doald's is always hiring?
I hop3e it is nothing but I'm glad you at least talked with your PCP and made them aware of it.

That's happened to me too!  I attributed it to nerves in my neck being pinched but who knows.  At least we know we're not alone!

Hi Carol and Gidget...also everyone else who responded,Thanks for the support and responses.Yes i agree Carol.i wasnt happy with how my doctor spoke to me.I didnt even get any Professional courtesy.She knows me as one of the R.N.s who care for HER PATIENTS at the hospital we BOTH work out of.Go figure.Your right they should go and work at Mc Donalds if they dont want to do their job....lol.

Woke up feeling good this morning though.No numbness last night and guess what??....my blood pressure this morning was an all time low.....110/72...YIPPEEE.Better than 160/102 that it was a few weeks ago.

numbness is scary and annoying. I also get crawly feelings. I have at least 2 periphrial nerves with damage. I was told it is nerves inflammed for both sensations by a neuro who said it was likely lupus.
