Does any one suffer with severe lower back pain And bad headaches?

Does any one have really bad back pain? I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well as Lupus among many diagnosis. Lately I have been having really bad back pain. Horrible headaches can any one suggest something.I will be calling my rheumy tommorrow. Hopefully she will prescribe something I pray that will help me.Please help any suggestions I may ask my doctor about would be helpful. Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been diagnosed with lupus and was wondering the same thing. my lower back has been killing me and i cant find out anything

You are not alone. I was diagnosed January 2006. This seems to be a new sympton but I also have some kidney issues as a result of the Lupus. I was wondering if this has anything to do with my kidneys.

Hey there, thought I'd chime in on this topic.

 

Is it your lower back that is in pain?  Your kidneys are a lot higher - mid back.  If the pain is down low, just above your butt cheeks in the pelvis area, it is probably a condition called Sacroiilitis.  Inflammation of the sacroiiliac joint. I was diagnosed with this in 2005.  I had a bone scan done to diagnose it. 

 

I notice it flare up when my fibro flares.  seems to run together, for me anyway.  But the pain is excruciating. I actually feel better if I can keep moving.  Sitting or laying for long periods of time makes the pain worse.

 

I got a prescription for a topical cortisone cream that's 10% cortisone.  Very powerful stuff.  It works really well.  Heat works too.  I know what it's like to have back pain.  it's awful.  Anyway type in sacroiilitis into google and see what comes up.  Your rheumy will know what it is too.

 

The headaches are pretty much par for the course with lupus and fibro.  I take extra strength Tylenol.  That's about it.

Thank you for chimming in, and shedding some light on this.  I too suffer from the extreme lower back pain, and the headaches, but I didn't know what to do.  Didn't think the two were actually related.  Feeling the symptoms right now!  I'm going to bring the up to my rheumy tomorrow.

Ginny, please be careful taken tylenol... My daughhter had taken to many in a 24 hour, and just got out of the hospital. I have found out that many people have died from tylnnol. What ever is in it can mess up your liver. My daughter is okay now, but was in the hospital for a week.

I think the weight I've gained during prednisone use (about 25 lbs) is a big contributor to my lower back pain --- ---actually, I hadn't even thought about possible inflammation!!! Duh!!! I've got lupus, of course anything sore is inflammed!!!

 Thanks everyone you have been extremely helpful. I am still learning about new symptons. This is still so new to me. So I may be asking lot's of questions.

Ginny... I also have sacroiliitis. Its horrific. It flares up on me about twice a year. And like you, I find its better to keep moving. If I lay still for more than five minutes, I cannot bear the pain in my lower back hips and tops of my legs. And, it seems to go hand in hand with the fibro pain. I still have not been able to figure out what the triggers are. Heating pads, warm baths, pain meds, and muscle relaxers to sleep through the night are all I can do until the flare is over... usually three to four days.

All pain in Lupus is bad, and I pray that all of you are able to work with a doctor who understands and is able to give you the pain relief that you need. I am so thankful for my doctors, and that they trust me with the meds I am given. I know of others in my situation who ask for help with their pain and are looked upon as drug seekers. It just isnt fair.
