I just talked to barb this evening and while she was at the doctor today for chest pains her doctor decided to admit her. Barb said they did an EKG on her and it was abnormal and she's been having problems breathing she's also in a bad flare right now. I just wanted to let you all know she's in the hospital again so please say a prayer for her .Take care all and i'll post again if needed.

10:30pm Tues, EST - Barbara called just a bit ago. It seems her lupus flare has been treated with enough prednisone to start her fibromyalgia flaring. So now she's in an awful lot of pain - as it's night and her hospital doesn't provide the best service anyway, she might not get adequate pain control until morning. Not fun, so prayers, good thoughts, or any healing powers you might believe in should be advised of Barbara's situation! It's unclear whether she will be in the hospital for very long right now, so check back for updates. (For those of you that don't already know, Barbara is being treated in a military hospital so normal channels of raising issues higher and higher till attention gets paid to them don't apply - she doesn't have a lot of choice in doctors, treatment plans, etc. There are many reasons that keep her in this situation, but switching drs or hospitals is NOT an option.) Barb, I'm keeping you on the top of my mind. I can't imagine how painful, lonely and frightened you must be feeling. I know it's not anything you'd wish on even your worst enemy -- I hope and pray you can hang on till the pain subsides, whether naturally or thru treatment. Hang in there, my friend!

Barb,

You've been on my mind and I hate to hear this news. I'll keep you in my prayers and send you lots and lots of healing thougts and energy to help you get through this nightmare. There are a lot of people out here that love you Barb, and while that won't help ease your pain, hopefully it will give you some comfort.

 Just a quick update on Barb,

   She just called me and said they will be moving her to the Oncology ward so they can give her IV pain meds as needed. In the Cardiology ward the doctor has to be called in to give it but, the nurses in the Oncology ward are able to do it themselves.

  She said she was just told she has Cushions Disease on top of everything else. It's probably caused from the long-term use of prednisone.... sad .

  She doesn't know how long she will be in the hospital but, probably a few days. They said her lungs sound dry...whatever that means. I think they are talking about the scrubbing sound from Pericarditis, maybe?

  Barb sweetie, You are in my everyday thoughts and prayers. I hope you get some much needed relief quickly and this clears up so you won't be in the hospital again on Christmas.....((((Gentle Hugs)))).

Barbara is in Oncology & her pain is now being managed down to level 3 or 4, whereas last night it was being allowed to go over 10. The doctors are checking on several things that might have to do w/recent breathing problems and chest pain. An endocrinologist has diagnosed Cushing's Disease -- almost certainly a side-effect of long term prednisone use. Cheers,

Yep, the Cushings will be from the prednisone.  It also can make you feel just crappy, from what I've heard about the disease.

Barb, I really hate that you are going through this and am praying that you get some relief and that docs can at least manage some of your symptoms. You are in my prayers. I can't imagine how hard all of this must be on you, especially with the holidays coming up. As you can tell, you are well loved here and we are all thinking of you. Lots of love, hippi

Hi Everyone;

Thanks so much for you words, well wishes, and prayers. It's now almost 4:00 pm on Friday and I'm now tucked all up in my bed. I still feel pretty yucky but I'm pleased to be in my own bed, with my cat laying next to me purring up a storm. He's great therapy for me. I can't post to much but I wanted you to know I'm home and things are better than they were on Tuesday. Thanks again for everything.

Hey Barb, sorry to hear about recent events. At least they seem to be checking you out good and taking care of you. Have they ran the echocardiogram. Make sure they do that also. After I had pericarditis is when I started with valve problems. The pericarditis itself came with a lot more that I bargained for. Also keep a check on those lungs. I had the chostrochondritis just afterwards and some minor lung issues. Don't know much about Cushing's but I am sorry for the back to back diagnosis. Been getting pounded too lately. The season brings out a lot of stress and we all know what that means. Can't wait for the "I told you so" from my mother when she hears about the rest of my issues. Glad you have lots of support. Hi All:

Well I've made it through the weekend. I slept most of it and I'm almost ready to go back to bed here in a bit. I just wanted to touch base with you and say hi. I have to admit I'm really down today. I spoke with my attorney that's handling my SSDI case and we discussed my pain meds that I'm using and I was told by my doctor that I could drive while using this particular medication. Come to find out I can not, so now I'm faced with giving my either my pain medications or being able to drive myself to the doctor. God I hate this stupid diseases, why do I have to be so d@amn sick? What did I do to deserve all this? I've lost most of my abilities to be a normal person already. Now I've got to make a choice to either suffer in pain all the time or give up the last bit of my freedom.

I can't keep on going with this. This is the straw that's breaking the camel's back, I quit, I give up. I'm washing my hands of all of it the RA/Lupus/Fibro/Gastroparesis/Cancer. You know it's strange they say you're never given more than you can bear, we'll I'm maxed out and can't bear another thing. Please pray for me, cause only a miracle is gonna keep me going.

I am praying for you lady. I know you can become frustrated I understand completely how you feel. Feel free to email me if you would like to talk. I had to resign from my job as a result of my Lupus diagnosis in January 2006. I also don't drive to my doctors appointments as well. I also understand how you feel about being over whelmed. Reading about some of things you have experienced I understand how you feel. Last year I went to the hospital for stomach pain that turned into a surgery that landed me in ICU on the respirator because I couldn't breath on my on, and kidney issues to go alone with that. Trust me I understand how you feel and I will keep you in my prayers for your miracle. Nothing is impossible to them that believe. Keep believing my doctors are amazed each time I see them

   I'm sorry to hear things are getting worse by the day for you... sad . You have endured so much!! I'm praying you get your miracle so you will have your life back. My heart goes out to you and your family. I know its hard for them to see you suffer so much, as well as you being overwhelmed by diseases. Try to hang in there!
