what is the cause of mouth and tongue sores?

Does anyone know what in the world causes sores in the mouth (tongue & gums) and what feels like sores inside the nose? 

I have forgotten to talk to the dr about them but plan to at my next appointment.  With so many other issues - I can't tell what is what anymore. 

Also, I have swollen lymph nodes in the underarm area as well as the pelvic area.  I am not sick and I do not have any STD - so I really do not know if the swollen lymph nodes are normal to RA, SLE, FM or anything else related.  Any ideas?????

My sister has a friend with a different auto-immune disease, a very rare one, I'd have to ask the name of it again, but her biggest symptoms are ulcer like sores in her mouth and around her vaginal area. She hasa prednisone mouthwash to use when the sores come up in her mouth and a cream for the others, but she has not been able to make any connections as to what causes the sores to flare. Her first symptoms occured during pregnancy.

SLE can cause this. I had serious ulcer in my mouth and vaginal before. The rhumty increased my dosage.
