gum pain and swelling around eyes.....

Do you guys ever get gum pain? Not just a section of your mouth but your entire gum line, top and bottom? If so, what does it feel like? Also, do you ever get swelling around your eyes? What's that about?

Yes!  I have had gum pain before. It was a couple of years ago, and it didn't last long enough for me to get a doctor or dentist's view on it.  I wonder if it was just some inflammation going on.  Not really sure.

 

I've never had swelling around my eyes though.  I wonder if that has to do with the other eye issues you were having?

I don't get gum pain. Sometimes they are sensitive and bleed. I do however get puffy around my eyes which, in my case, is related to proteinuria.
Have you been checked for protein in you urine? Judy

Hi Kaal, is your mouth and eyes dry alot? I thought that was caused by Sjogrens? If your mouth gets to dry it can cause a lot of problems for your gums. I really don't know much about it. I actually had to have dentured when I was in my 30's my teeth were fine but my gums disolved so much my teeth all got loose.

You need to bring this up to your doctor.

A portion of my gum swells every now and then,... not sure why,,, very annoying though.

I normally don't get swollen gums, or swollen eyes. My gums bleed a lot and I've go terrible dark circles under my eyes. I agree with Carol you need to mention this to your doctor.

The swelling around your eyes likely goes with your other question around contacts the swelling is likely caused by dry eye as that is why I get it. Gum pain is also something I get caused by dry mouth and not enough saliva enzymes for your gums to be happy. Like others mention your best bet is to talk to your doctor as no two people present the same with either lupus or sjogrens so your dr is your best person to tell you for sure what is wrong.
