Hi Carol,
I don't really have any answers for you, except to validate what Bill said. Swallowing can be caused by any number of things, but is commonly associated AI disease. I also have this problem, some days are worse than others, but I just chalked it up to sjogren's. I know I had a swallow series done during my first upper endoscopy years ago. Results came back (I think) that 1 out of every so many swallows was abnormal. It was very mild then. It has gotten worse now. I'm already treated with PPIs, though, so short of surgery I don't think there's a lot that can be done about it. I certainly wouldn't qualify for speech therapy, etc...
I sure hope you feel better soon. For me, when it gets bad I try to stick to very soft and wet food (e.g., yogurt, noodles)
