4 Ginny the Camera pro!

Ginny,

Sure will get in touch when I am back in Ireland, oh, can you tell me what you think about me getting an Olympus DSRL 420.  It is supposed to be the lightest semi-pro slr camera around.

I can't 'do' the heavy gear anymore, I really can't.

I am especially interested in outdoor macro and abstract stuff viewed outdoors and love or hope to (!) digitial art using photoshop.

I have no alternative but to ditch what I have.

Any advice hugely welcomed.

Hi Ann!!

 

Oh wow, an Olympus DSLR!!  Good choice! Very good quality glass in the lense. That's what you want.  Good glass!  Plus, you said it's light to carry which is really important.  I have the Canon 5D and it's about 10 pounds!  I now have bicep tendonitis because I carry it for up to 12 hours straight.  Crazy!

 

Let's talk more about our photography obsessions via our email addresses.  I know 'off topic' stuff isn't allowed on the forum. 

 

I love macro photography too!

Ginny I went and got a different camera altogether!

They advised me in 'jessops' a very very well known shop that Canon EOS 450D would produce better pics.

As I was still unsure I rang my 'tutor' at home in Ireland and he said to line em up and feel them with eyes closed as they all are really very similar in quality.

I found the Olympus 210 (220 not in yet) didnt have that 'battery bump' which I was used to in the Nikon D50 and useful as a grip.

Weight wise they were very similar and so I opted for the Canon.

I also tried the Sony Alpha but that was heavier than the other two.

I hope I have made the right choice.

I am happy.

also bought a gorilla!!! tripod! Ha.
