Dysfunctional Typing...Could it be a symptom of Brain fog?

I have been doing that too. I will hit the wrong combination once, twice..sometimes three times before getting the letters right. I just did it while typing this reply. Not sure if it is because of the medication or lupus or what. It's so hard to deal with the day to day sometimes. You question everything and don't know if it is because of Lupus or something else going on.

Babs . . . I did find one article with the "stroke test". You might need another person to evaluate your response to these:: Researchers at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine developed this one-minute, three-step stroke assessment test to enable bystanders and first line emergency responders to quickly screen for a possible stroke diagnosis. Step 1: Ask person to "smile broadly, showing your teeth." (This "smile test" is to look for one-sided facial weakness or paralysis.) Step 2: Ask person to close their eyes, raise their arms in front of them and hold them out for a count of ten. (This is to test for arm or leg weakness or paralysis, dizziness, or loss of balance.) Step 3: Ask person to repeat a simple phrase, such as "Don't cry over spilled milk." (This is check for difficulty speaking or understanding speech or basic instructions.) This simple three-step test screens for the most common signs and symptoms of a stroke. Taking fast action will help improve the treatment and the outcome for stroke victims. The only approved medication to stop or reverse strokes must be given within three hours after the stroke begins. A stroke or suspected stroke is always a medical emergency and anyone exhibiting signs of a stroke should receive immediate medical attention.

Hi Babs. I'm with Rosie on this one. The typing is a definite lupus issue and I'm also concerned about the vasculitis involvement.  I used to be a great typist, but now it seems I spell more wrong than right. It became really bad this past January along with all my speech problems and severe cog disfunction, but I've noticed an improvement since I've been on CellCept. Oh, the medrol jitters might be part of the problem too. Just a thought. I hope you tell your rheumy about this symptom 'cause it's important. Babs I'm so sorry you are so sick! That happens to me on and off as brain fog (or worse) has it's way with me. I've never been typist, per se, but have been typing stuff that has to be right (ie commands & code for computers) since 1978.....some days are much better or much worse than others -- I never thought of it as a separate symptom, but just as a measure of how tired/dysfunctional my brain is at any given moment. Hope it's not anything too significant for your particular personal strain of lupus! Cheers,

   It sounds like it fairly common with us lupuies. Just another one of those things I guess. It's just annoying.

Ginny, my printing is been awful for a long time now. It looks like chicken scratch!

Lynn, I'm not a typist either...I can only type about 50wpm, but accurate most of the time... .

   I know what you mean about the spelling memory lapses...It can be a very simple word and just doesn't look right no matter how you write or type it..... .

   I don't think this is anything serious. I haven't heard back from my rheumy...she may think I'm nuts...lol.

   I'm glad you are feeling better lately. You had a rough time for awhile. Maybe between all of us we and figure out why we can't type anymore...lol. I had a hard time typing this, grrrr!! So frustrating...
