Chronic sore throat/candidas?

I seem to get sore throats alot without other symptoms. I already take anti biotics 3 times a week. I read autoimmune diseases can cause them. anyone else get them more than normal and what do you do for them. I use that swish and swollow sometimes but usually for sores in my mouth not for burnig in my throat.

Okie,
When I had to take Antibiotics every other day, I kept a very sore throat and white tongue. I used nystatin swish and swallow. Antibiotics kill that natural flora that protects against these things. I hope you feel better. Judy

Okie,

Candida is normally in our bodies but under control.  When your immune system is suppressed it is not uncommon to have an infection.  I had a very bad one when I first went into the hospital and it recurred several times.  They treat it with an antibiotic called diflucan. 

Why are you taking antibiotics?  Taking them unnecessarily can only upset the balance of bacteria in your body and with a suppressed immune system that is asking for trouble.  They usually take a scraping to determine if you have candida and then start you on diflucan or a similar antibiotic.  I don't think other antibiotics work on candida.

Both nystatin and diflucan are used for yeast (candida) overgrowths. I was having both oral, genital, and GI symptoms until they gave me nystatin pills which I take daily. Cured me! I do need to check on how long a person can safely take this stuff, though.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the info. Bob the reason I take the antibiotics is because every time I stop I get pneumonia and end up in the hospital. With my lungs shot already it was a matter of the best of two evils. It's not somthing I want to do but it seems to keep me out of the hospital.
Lynnwood I have been having stomach problems latly too. I didn't think they were related though. I didn't know they have nystatin pills. Thanks for the info I'll check into that.
Judy sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad you got off the anti b's hopfully some day I'll be able to.

Carol,

Have you tried taking acidolpholis (not sure of the spelling) along with the Nystatin? Anytime I am on an antibiotic, I take this and it helps me to keep any yeast infections at bay. Lynnwood is right, Diflucan is great, too. Sometimes I need extra help with a strong yeast infection and I ask my doc for a script of Diflucan and take it along with my acidolpholis. Health Food stores carry this as well as Meijer, or most any store that sells vitamins. Eating yogurt can help sometimes, too. Yogurt contains live cultures and can augment any treatment plan!

Thanks Stacie and audrey, I ordered some nastatin yesterday but it gets mailed to me so hopfully it won't take to long. I noticed I have a sore started on my tongue!errg! Is diflucan a perscription? I have bought the liquid acidophalis in the dark bottle regrigerated stuff at the health food store years ago. I don't know how far I'd have to go to find one around here. There has to be a health food store somewhere. I'm thinking a making keifer and keeping that around. I wonder if that would help?

Both nystatin and diflucan are prescript ion meds. I tried all the acidophillus, etc treatments and didn't get any relief until the actual prescript ion. Hope you feel better soon,

Carol, I'm sorry you're having so many different problems and now this. Hopefully some of the suggestions you've gotten from these smart folks will do the trick. Boy, it's good to have you back.

If there's anything you need from Akins, the health food store in OKC, let me know and I'll get it and mail it to you.

Oh thanks Patty, that's so sweet. I have nystatin beng sent. My pharmacy mailed my perscriptions to me. It's cheaper than around trip to the nearest pharmacy even if I have to pay the postage. Of course I'll make a trip if it's an emergency. I'll let you know if I decide to try somthing else. I can always pay for it over the phone and have you pick it up if that wouldn't be too much trouble. At the moment i'm just gonna try the statin though. I wonder if that it why I keep getting the cracked on the sides of my mouth? I've been getting nose bleeds too. LOL. other than that I feel pretty good. I have my home health care person coming today for the first time. of course tecvhnically she should have been here 15 mins. ago. Ya just can't get good help these days lol. I hope you are feeling better. Is your house sold or just getting it ready to put on the market? Don't over do it.

I suggest cutting ALL sugar and white carbs (white flour, white rice, etc) out of your diet immediately because both feed yeast infections. I learned the hard way. I also suggest that you actually get pro-biotics with more than just acidophilis (sp) as there is more than one of those helpful bacteria you are having killed off by the antibiotics. It will help a lot with GI issues and yeast issues. You can get systematic yeast infections throughout your whole body.
