I have been having an on going problem.  I have asthma but its never been really bad except when i would get a cold and then I'd have to use my inhalor.  Now I use it 3-4 times a day.  Its worse when I'm just sitting or laying down.  You'd think it would be worse when I'm up doing things which makes me wonder why it doesn't bother me as much then.  It just feels like I can't get enough air in.  I am still on a waiting list for my rhumy, otherwise my appt isn't until Sept 5.  I don't have a general dr right now, I'm trying to find a good one.  Could this be related to Lupus?

Hi Domanique, I read your other post and put them all together. The breathing and problem swollowing could be part of thesame thing. Yes it could be from some type of auto immune problem. CREST causes esophagus problems which makes food get caught going down. Also breathing problems. I was diagnosesed with asthma and thn several years later was told it wasn't asthma it was COPD. Now the rheumy I have thinks I might have scleraderma which also attacks the lungs. You need to bring this up to your rheumy. Have you been diagnosised yet? What was you ANA? I'm just curious about the pattern. Not that it means everything but I have a lot of the same symptoms as you mentioned ad I am the only one on here that I'm aware of with a nucleolar pattern. Anyway please be sure to discuss this with your Rhummy I think it will be very important to your diagnosis.

I have not been dx yet. I see the rhumy in Sept. I'm not sure what ANA means, sorry. What is a nuclear pattern? I'm new to all this stuff. At first the dr thought I had MS and sent me to a nuro. He felt it wasn't that. So now I'm going to see a rhumy to get checked for fibro, lupus and RA. I just want answers. I want to know that I'm not crazy. I want to feel like I have some type of control over this thing. Thanks for the advice

Yes it could be from your lupus.  Chest xrays are going to be one thing that your rheumy will very likely order for you. It's very common to get those done in the early diagnosing process.  The inflammation in your body might be causing your airways to constrict.  Are you having any pain when you try to breath in?

There are so many things that can cause shortness of breath. Have you called to try to get your appointment expedited? If the shortness of breath becomes worse, you should probably consider going to the ER. God Bless You, Judy
