phoresis???

Hi everyone,

  I was just wondering if anyone has had phoresis treatment for SLE? I'm going to be admitted for a week and receive it for 5 days and then my cytoxan again right after. Just curious???

Hi Rere, I was wondering if you had your treatment yet? and the cytoxin? How are you coping? Are you feeling ok or having a hard time. Just want you to know I was thinking about you. Give us an update when you feel up to it. Blessings!

Hey everyone,

   My insurance decided after leaving me in the hospital (being switched in the middle) for a week that they weren't going to pay for it. I had the vas-cath put in my neck and everything before they let me know. Come to find out it was lymphocyticplasmaphoresis and it's when they filter your lymphocytes and plasma kind-of like dialysis. Hopefully, as much as that vas-cath hurt I will be able to have that procedure done b/c I heard it really makes you feel better. As far as the cytoxan, sometimes I get sick and sometimes I don't. There is no way to tell when I will or won't b/c I don't really do anything differently it just happens. Sorry it took me so long to respond and thanks for asking.....

Wow Jen, I'm sorry to hear your insurance denied the treatment! It amazes me that they have the authority to deny a treatment your doctor feels you need. I think the government needs to do something about these companies playing doctor/God. I have never heard of the medicine or procedure that you described either, if you're still curious about what it might have been like you might look it up on the Mayo Clinic, they have some great information about drugs.
