I had a recent pap smear come back abnormal. I have since been diagnosed with cervical dysplasia (early stage cervical cancer). My doctor found 3 spots in question – waiting on the biopsy results to discuss my options for removal. Does anyone else have experience with this? I’d like to know what to expect. Thank you in advance,

HI! I had mild dysplasia when I was about 21. They did a colposcopy and decided that they probably got everything, but had me return for a pap about every 3-4 months for the next 2 years. Last week I had my yearly and we had discussed my health history and the Dr. said that things have changed with dysplasia and most younger ladies, ages 18-24, when developing dysplasia have a very good chance of it clearing itself up, and usually without all the extra paps. You'll have to let us know how everything turns out. I should also say that both of my sister's had dysplasia one mild and one severe and that was about 7 years ago. We are all doing fine. My youngest sister had to have some coning and freezing of the cervix which is a minor type day surgery, but she's been fine ever since. ((hugs))

I also had this freezing of my cervix in 1983, and have never had anymore problems with it. Hopefully this will be the same thing to be done for you, or even better for it to clear up on its own.
