I am new to the site.

I am out of my CellCept. my dose is 2000g/day. Diagnosed in August 2006 with SLE with Kidney Lupus. Kidney function is now normal. I also take 5mg of Prednisone(down from 40mg). Also plaquenil 200mg/day. My labs are very stable now. I sometimes have bad chest pain. I get tired easily and have joint pains.

anyways, my insurance wont pay for my drugs for the rest of the year because they have paid the max they will pay for a year. Its going to cost me over $2000. I am a student and dont have a job so I cant afford it. I applied to Roche to get the meds for free. However, I am out of meds right now. Do u have any advise as to what to do while i wait. diet? anythinng. I have been out for 4days now. How much longer do u think i will be fine without it. I still take the 5mg prednisone and plaquenil and oscal D.

Hello Faith, Glad you found us. I hope you hear from Roche quickly. In the meantime, seems obvious, but have you asked your doctor if they have samples? Is he/she aware that you are in a pickle? If he/she doesn't have any advice, maybe call other rheumies until you find one who has a "connection". Sorry you hit the wall on your coverage. . . that sounds really scary. But hopefully, the Roche company will contact you quickly. I bet they REALLY want to keep you on their med if they can . . . so don't be afraid to contact them with the urgency of your situation. Hopefully one of the others here will have a better solution. Glad you found us!! Blessings!

I suggest calling the salvation army and local churches for help with your meds. I wish I could suggest more.

There is also an assistance program called Xubex, you can get  180 tablets of generic paquenil 200mg for 30.00 and 360 tablets of 5, 10 or 20 mg prednisone for 20.00.   Here's theri site.         http://www.xubex.com/Default.aspx    Try to stay on plaquenil, becuase it's when you go off of it you realize how much it's working.  If I miss taking it for 3-4 days I break out in horrible hives and the extreme fatigue comes back.  It the takes about a week of beeing back on it until I can get to where I was.    PPARX.org is also a great site, but Roche is the only one offering the cellcept.  You could try calling them for an update on your application status and explain the situation, they may be able to put a rush on your order.  Best of luck to you and God Bless.
