hey...thansks for your advise on the enlarged spleen, im going to follow up with my reumatologist and a hemotologist because i am anemic.....

anyway i have had a nasty rash covering my forearms and calves for about a month...i have lupus for 6-7 years and never had much skin involvement..an occasional patch or two on my arm which was cured very quickly with a cream...i have seen my reumatologist and a dermatologist 3 times. rash wont go away...tried steriod cream twice a day and an anti fungal.no help...had biopsy today to see whats up....i am also tapering down on my prednisone since a recent hospital stay...( doen to 10 mg and taking plaqunil) .if that helps??...the rash is red and patchy ans sometimes scaly with little red dots in places?? any thoughts

hondo, I get a rash sometimes on my arms too, but not on my legs so far. Every once in a while I get a little rash on the tops of my feet and I have no idea why. I notice the rash on my arms either after I've been in the sun or if my lupus is flaring and it usually starts getting better when my lupus calms down. I hope you find something that helps the rash (sorry I couldn't be of more help). Take care

I've had something possibly similar now since this past June or so. I have this red rash that's in small blotches on the back/sides of my calves and some of it was on my thighs. It also has slight scaliness on top of it. It didn't really itch, though. I had tried every over the counter cream I could find, but nothing helped. Last time I saw my Rheum, I mentioned it and showed it to him. First thing he did was look at my elbows. In the past, I did get rashes come and go around my elbows and also around my ankles. I had told him about this, too, but he never actually saw it as it had gone away by the time I saw him. But those rashes were very itchy. My podiatrist did see it around my ankles, though. He gave some Sarna & said it was probably eczema. Well, that cream didn't work either. When I saw my Rheum with my leg rashes, I told him all the creams (inlcuding OTC steroid creams, one being cortisone) I tried..and what did he say? He told me to try cortisone. Whatever. But I have a very low yearly cap on my insurance visits and all tests so I still haven't been able to follow up with a dermatologist. So I have no clue what the rash on my legs is. It started out with quite a bit of blotches, but as of now is about half what it was. What was strange, though, was it seemed to fade somewhat while taking methylprednisilone for a back problem.

Let us know what comes of your skin biopsy...

I have rashes on my arms when I get in the sun.  and when the rash goes away to some degree, it leaves like small white patches where the rash used to be.  I also have rashes on my calves and around my ankles, and it was very very itchy.  wake myself up at night having to scratch it.  Sjogren's is definitely affecting my skin.  my legs are scaly they are so dry, and I assumed the rash on my legs and ankles was because of the Sjogren's.

the rash on my arms, due to the sun, is not itchy, and it stays for long periods of time, even if I protect myself from the sun.

a new cream that my daughter bought for me helps with the leg rashes and the itching.

I have really negative thoughts about my rheumy, so probably I am not the good one to talk about that.;) He saw me six months ago, and did not remember that I had rash on my arms, legs, and sometimes on my face.  He never said yay or nay about it.  Just resched me for another appointment.

My grandchildren, two boys, age 13 and 15, have been with me for a week now during school holidays, and they are taking up my time at the moment.  they will return to school next week.  gave my daughter a break.  She works really hard as a single mom.  she needs a break.
