My levels were low, and I have been taking a supplement for about
6 months now. I feel awesome!! My fatigue isn't as bad, and my bones and muscles don't ache near as much as they used to. I am allergic to all light and milk, so I don't consume Vit D really anywhere. It has to be taken with Calcium to help with absorbtion.
I feel about 90% better than I did. I take it in liquid form and the calcium in pill form.
I do notice if I don't take it, I feel pretty sluggish. I am so grateful that I "listened" to my body and pursued the possibility of low levels. My deceased doctor was always trying to get me to "get on" the vitamins, but I was lazy and stubborn. I wish I had listened to him.
If I had to guess, if you are not allergic to the sun or milk, then your levels might not be low. There is a huge mystery about the role of Vit D in people with Lupus, that may be why some people cannot tolerate supplementation.
good luck!
