Yellow fly bites causing fever, chills, and bad rash and heat in leg

Does anyone know of a remedy for yellow fly bites and whether it is normal for them to get this bad. Its not an allergic reaction, but more like an infection from them. I feel like Howard Carter getting bit by a bug outside tuts tomb. I have five or six just on one leg and they have formed large "plaques" about the size of my palm for each bite. The tissue is hard and itches deep inside. The leg is hot to the touch and I've been nauseaus, had bad bad headaches, and chills and feel I've got some kind of disease from the suckers.

I got one bite two years ago and I couldn't walk, my foot swelled up and got really hot and hurt bad.

Is this normal for these suckers?  I don't get this sick from a scorpion or spider bite!  Do these flies carry disease? I'm glad I'm on antimalarials!!!! I can't believe how bad they are. Any home remedy?

Ive never heard of yellow flies but it sounds like you need to see a doctor esp since you are having chills.

Will do, they are still bad, still itching, huge now, big huge hives like three inches from one bite. and they are hot. Last time they gave me steroids and vicodin, but I do tink its an infection and will try to plant a seed in that direction.

I ended up going to the ER and getting steroids and vicodin, later got steriods and antibiotics. I haven't had one in a while, or I'm used to them, anyway, I do have problems with bites getting infected. I put over the counter hydrocortisone cream on them to stop the itching, and when that absorbs in (like an hour later) I put antibiotic cream and a bandaid. I put my feet up and stay off them. I have taken benadryl when it was reallybad. If its worse than just a regular bite you probably should try to find a place to go because they can become infected enought that you might need antibiotics, or if you have a bad allergic reaction to it.
