I probably should know this but don't....
I went to the doctor last week since I was feeling poorly and she drew some kidney function labs, CBC, and did a urinalysis.
I just listened to a message that the MA left on my machine yesterday saying everything was normal except my WBC was a "little high." She didn't leave a value or anything so I'm not sure of that. She just said that the rheumatologist would see me at my normal appointment. No big deal, I'm not worried or anything since I have been feeling pretty good the last few days.
My question is...
since I'm on prednisone, I assumed that my white count would be normal maybe even a tiny bit low. My thinking is that prednisone lowers the immune response which wouldn't allow the white count to be high. I mean, under normal circumstances a high WBC count would be normal in my mind because it was obvious that maybe I was fighting something (which maybe I really was since I was feeling poorly). Just wondering if anyone can explain this to me?
Thanks! Hope everyone is doing ok!
