It was good to hear doctor bias brought out on CNN today. The one category they left out was the bias against female patients, but the Reader's digest article "What your doctor doesnt want you to know" does a good job exposing it there.
The issue with obesity explains alot. Few docs understand problems with weight gain due to pred or illness, thinking exercise and diet is going to magcally fix things. But they don't understand what we go through. While I understand when doctors say my health would be better if I could lose weight, I don't like looking pregnant and its destroying my back, but I can tell a good doc when they understand why losing weight is so hard for me and that celebrates a small weight loss or at least a good effort.
Most of us try to eat healthy, exercise when we can, and don't want to gain weight, but sometmies it is really beyond our control. Hopefully this discussion on the news and the cnn site will do something to help. While they dealt with racial bias I really wish they would have touched on gender bias at least a little.
Well, if you didn't see it, you might try to read about in on Cnn site. It was cathartic at least. Thought people might want to know. It explained for me some really rude care I've received.
