I was dianosed with Pernicious Anemia several years ago. I injected six week of B12 shots and felt better. I was experiencing problems with reflux. My doctor had me on Nexium, Pepcid, Gavicon, and one other medicine, but my reflux grew worse. I went to the Methodist Reflux Center who ran many test and I was removed from all medicine. Surprisingly, my reflux stopped. I told the doctor about the pernicious anemia and he did not believe that I had this and refused to test me. So I just put it out of my mind. I watched what I ate and my digestive system seemed to improve.
I was always tired and my iron was low. My last round of blood test showed my cholesteral was down as well as my triglycerides - my levels appeared to be getting better. My doctor did not run a CBC or Ferriton level which was surprising to me as my iron levels always are on the low end. I tried to donate blood at church and was told my iron level was too low so I told my doctor. I also told her about the test that my original gastro doctor ran and had diagnosed me with the pernicious anemia. She ran several blood tests and I learned that my ferriton level was 10 and my B12 was 236.
It has a hit or miss thing for me over the years. I noticed my hair was starting to shed more than normal. My toes have been tingling and even stiffening and pulling down in a cramp. The last time - a week ago, rubbing my toes (always three center toes and only on one foot. Usually my right foot, but last time it was my left foot.) didn't help. Even walking around didn't help and the cramp lasted several minutes. I have being suffering from vertigo (three times now). I go to turn over and the room spins. I raise my head straight up on look straight down and I loose my balance and start to fall.
Could all of this be related?
