Malar Rash or Rosacea??

I have a rash on my face which has been diagnosed as rosacea by my primary care. When I was referred to a dermatologist he said it might be rosacea, but didn't look typical. He ordered an ANA panel, waiting to hear. I have no bumps like rosacea...have been treated for almost a year with no improvement. It gets worse in the sun. Other symptoms include joint pain, hair loss, and fatigue. I am also being treated for arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my neck.

Thanks Hester. My rash definately looks malar with the butterfly shape, and it has the round red patches, where rosacea has streaks from what the dermatologist said. It has been there for about 5 years and hasn't improved, sometimes worsening in stressful situations. I have another appt. the 16th where I will get the results of the ANA panel. No one has mentioned Lupus and I know there are many immune disorders that can cause a malar rash too. The hair loss is significant, and being only 36 I can't imagine what I will look like by the time I a 40. I am new to this blog, does everyone list their diagnoses and medications at the bottom?
