It's me again...... after being on Pred for 10 days and taking my last dose on Sunday, the pleurisy is back. The pain started again yesterday. I called the doctor that treated me before and he wants me to take 10mg for 10 days, then alternate 10mg and 5 mg (10 mg monday, 5mg tues) for 10 days and 5 mg for another 10 days. He also called in an antibiotic.

How long can this last??

I wonder why it came back, just one more thing to deal with cry I pray everyone is having a pain free day!

Oh Stacie, I'm so sorry to hear this! This disease is just so awful!
Sending prayers and gentle hugs in your direction.....please try to get some extra rest if there's any way that you can!

Bless your heart sweetie! That pleurisy is giving you are hard time...I sure hope your doctor can get this under control soon. Hang in there and rest as much as you can. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Stacie, I'm so sorry the pleurisy is back. I've heard that it's the absolute worst pain. Other than prednisone, what helps? I understand totally what you mean when you say "just one more thing to deal with." It's like finally catching your breath and then being pushed under water again. I hope the pred. helps and that it doesn't last long.

(((Stacie))) I'm so sorry the pleurisy is back. I had one sharp pain this week, but mine seems to be gone thank God. I was having lots of shortness of breath with the pain so doc and I thought it might have sent me in a flare. He put me on pred 40mg for 3 days, 30mg for 3, 20mg for 3 and back to the 9mg I was on. The past couple of weeks were awful. I was struggling so hard getting out of bed that I torn cartilage from my rib cage. It doesn't hurt, but I get a weird clicking sensation on my ribs when I turn certain ways. I really hope your doc gets yours under control quickly. It's a bear being in that much pain for so long. I have a little extra positive energy I'm sending your way. Love ya, Donna

I am sure the other meds I am on help with the inflammation. But the only thing that helps with the pain is pain pills which I hate to take but have taken one almost every day this month eyes The heating pad helps a little too. I am just waiting for the pred to kick in and get rid of this stuff.

I found that a hot soak in the tub helped when I had pleursy.
