Hi,
I have inflammatory bowel disease (either crohn's or ulcerative colitis) and have dealt with those symptoms for years now. Lately I've been having trouble, but having some new symptoms such as muscle pain in both calves. I also sometimes notice a little redness on my cheeks, usually when I wake up (I think it may just be covered by make up during the day). I'm starting to wonder if it could be the beginning of lupus. It just seems like a little sunburn, and sometimes the sun does come in my bedroom window on me. It doesn't feel like a sunburn. It's light enough that I easily ignore it, but now I'm trying to figure out if it's a clue as to what it going on. Docs have run a bunch of tests regarding my leg pain with nothing showing up. It has been an issue the last few times my IBD has flared up and it's not a symptom of that disease. My leg pain has been severe at times, making it extremely painful to walk. It's been in the achilles tendon and up the calf muscles.
I guess I'm trying to figure out how do you know, or figure out, if you have lupus? I don't know if getting treatment sooner rather than later is better, or if I'm just going to have to see if other symptoms come into play. The pictures of the face rash that I've seen look worse than the flushed look I've been getting so I don't know if this is worth mentioning to my doctor or not.
I did have a positive ANA test but they said it was because of the IBD.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thank you!
