Hi Suetoo,
I'm so sorry to hear about
your infections....I've been having a lot of problems with skin infections lately too. But I'm on long-term antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease. I've been taking doxycycline, 400mg/day since January, and at the last visit to my Lyme doctor he added zithromycin 500mg/day. So I'm taking two VERY strong antibiotics right now. And he told me that I need to go on IV antibiotics eventually.
I was told that the thing to remember is to take LOTS of good probiotics products to prevent the development of drug-resistant strains of bacteria like C. diff. (Clostridium difficile). So I'm taking Florastor twice a day, which contains the species Saccharomyces boulardii (it's a special strain of yeast...both my Lyme doc and my rheumy insisted that I take this one), plus I just ordered a special probiotics product that has between 50 and 100 billion cells per capsule of acidophilus plus other strains that are helpful. I'm supposed to take that one three times a day!
Supposedly good, strong probiotics can keep you from developing the bad bacteria in your system while on antibiotics....if you have to be on them for a long time.
You're in my thoughts and prayers.....
(((((hugs)))))
