wink  i all,

  I am new to the site, but not new to living with lupus.  I am 52 now, and just this week had a new symptom.  Suddenly my entire body started swirling like I was drunk.  Doc is treating like vertigo, until he rules out anything else.  He did the Romberg test, it was positive.

  My question is this.  Has anyone had this too with lupus?  I have never had vertigo in my life, but doc says it's possible that lupus is attacking my nervous system.  When he did the romberg test, I immediately tipped over, as well as on one foot.

  I appreciate any and all input.

I've had vertigo and dizziness, and I know some other members have had this as well. I don't recall that anyone has it to the extent you describe.

I think most of us have been treated with time, rest, an anti-nausea med, and maybe some increased anti-inflammatory med till it receded...I know that's what happened with me. (After I was checked for ear disease or inflammation.) I spent the better part of a vacation sleeping/resting when I was supposed to be site-seeing 'cause of vertigo. Ick.

I hope they find the source of yours quickly and can get you back to regular soon,

Welcome to our forum Kathy. I had terrible vertigo several years ago and like Lynnwood my ears were checked and all was normal. I don't get vertigo now, but I have neuro issues, fall often and must use a cane. So my falls aren't from vertigo, but from tripping over my feet.  After a complete neuro workup the neurologist said it must be part of the lupus. How many times have we heard that! Oh well, it's nice to know all's normal. Kathy I hope we hear more from you :-)   Love, Butterflake

  I wanted to say thank you, and you probably will see me quite often.  This darn lupus keeps us all guessing from time to time.  I have been in a clinical trial for over a year now at my doctors office, it was really helping.  But it has ended and now I am just trying to hold out for the extended study.  I had to get an IV every two weeks, but after a while it became less of a pain in the butt when I realized I was feeling better.  lol

  This darn lupus is just such an obstacle in an already full life, sure am getting tired of rerouting myself all the time.  lol
