FEVER

Low fevers are often associated with Lupus. However, all new symptoms should be reported to your doctor at your next visit.

I'm not sure about fevers with 60 mg of Prednisone, I've fortunately never been on that high a dosage -- however I've gotten regular low grade temps with 15 mg and lower doses -- my Drs never seem to care until it gets over 100 -- no matter what you average temp usually is.

Hey challenged! Since I started prednisone, my body temperature fell about 2 degrees. now it is always at 96.9. I was on 60 mg of pred for about 2 years and also on immunosuppresants. I was told if my temperature got to 100.5 and stayed there, that I needed to call the doctor. The dizziness and weakness can be associated with high doses of pred. I usally stay pretty weak at the high doses but get more energy on the low doses. It seems weird to me but I guess that is just how my body responds.

How are you feeling now?

Oh my yes I had a lot. I still have the moon face. My face is about 3 times its normal size and my fluid retention in my legs was a 3+. I could push on my leg and a indention would stay there for over 30 minutes. And it hurt, felt like my legs were going to explode. I was told the best thing is to keep my legs elevated.

Have you let your doctor know about the fluid retention? They can put you on a lasik and that should help wit the fluid a little. The weght gain is very common and will generally come off once you can come down on the prednisone!!

Are there any tricks to not gaining a lot of wight when on the 60 mg pred daily?

 I don't take anything except cymbalta and I get a fever everyday and have for months. I am keeping track of it right now for the Rheumy. It starts out int he morning at 97.2 or so and somewhere around Noon it starts going up. never usually goes over 99.6 then back down in the eavening
