Hi everyone- Im new to this forum as my official diagnosis is Rheumatoid Arthritis- however my rheumatologist is now beginning to wonder if the diagnosis was wrong. Exactly 1 year ago I was diagnosed with RA and started on Methotrexate. As at this stage my only symptoms were bad joints, white fingers and hands and extreme fatigue. I was relieved that the methotrexate seemed to do its job and I began getting my life back again.
Everything seemed to be going great for a while until July when I began getting a bad pain in my right leg. This pain turned out to be a blood clot behing my knee, which at my age (24) is rare according to my doctor. I have since been on Warfarin as well as my methotrexate. With my autoimmune disorder in mind my doctors are trying to work out why exactly I developed a DVT and so far between results being lost (sigh) and waiting to see my Rheumatologist I am no further forward. I see my rheumy next week for the first time since developing the DVT, and I don't really know what to expect. My doctor says that I will probably get further bloods and the rheumy may change my diagnosis as the clot could be a symptom.
I have been doing some research and can't find very much info on autoimmune disorders and blood clots. I was wondering if lupus causes blood clots? My mother had severe SLE and although I am told its nt genetic It makes me wonder if the clot is a symptoms. Please let me know any of your experiences or if anyone has any information that might help. I don't know what to think anymore!
