Hi every one, as you can tell i am new to this and don't really know where to start...... 

I was diagnosed with lupus when i was 15 and i'm now 27 and it really hasn't been easy!!!

In the last 6mnths i have lost the majority of my hair, i asked my Dr for some advice on finding out whether i can get any help (like a prescription) in getting a wig, he was very reluctant to look into this for me but after 2 months of me nagging him he finally returned saying that because i have to pay for my prescriptions i can't have a prescription for a wig.  Now is it just me or is that totally ridiculas???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated blush

Well i am not from USA so i dont kno how it works over there.

But we buy wigs at the store..
I have never heard of getting a prescription for a wig.

I never heard of a prescription for a wig either. I do know that some cancer groups help women get wigs who can't afford them. Maybe they can help you.

Yes, it is possible. I actually got one through my insurance company. I called my insurance company to see if it was a possiblitly and then found out it was. I had to show proof I was on Cytoxan, (which got my rhuemy to write a note) which caused my hair to fall out and then went to a wig store picked out the one I wanted and payed out of pocket for it. I then was reimbursed the 300 dollars I spent for it.

If you can't get your insurance company to pay for it...go to tlcdirect.org. They have some fantastic wigs for very cheap. I actually got 2 of my wigs here and got more compliments on them than I didn on the expensive one. I actually even got one that matched my hair before it was gone and the same color. They have many styles long, short, curly, etc!

I don't know where you are from but if there is a Sally's beauty supply shop near you, they are very helpful and they have some hair pieces and even some wigs that are decent looking for a decent price at least until you can work something else out. I hope that you get past this soon and feel better.
