Am I suffering from Lupus?

I have mouth/nose sores, recurring low grade fever, heart palpitations, chest pains, blood in stool, asthma, chronic fatigue even after sleeping many hours. I have a painful red rash on my back with blood, pus, clear liquid but no facial rash. I feel better after taking steroids like Prednisone. My hemoglobin, RBC, WBC are all normal. Is ANA the best test?

Welcome Pain32,

Have you been seen by a rhuematologist? You definitely have some symptoms of Lupus but there is a whole gammit of autoimmune diseases that can cause many different symptoms and they vary from person to person.  ANA is only one test that better helps define if you have any autoimmune conditions. How long have you had these symptoms and what medications are you currently taking besides prednisone?

DX - sle and carpal tunnel syndrome

RX - plaquenil, prednisone, etolodac, folic acid, lisiniprol, hormones and lots of vitamins

I have this high resting heartrate, is that Lupus? I don't know if my insurance will cover americhoice, I've been to GI/pulmonologist, but these terrible doctors won't prescribe more prednisone for me. So it's ok to take prednisone long term ?

I've had the symptoms about a year, was healthy before and been taking prednisone off and on the past few months

Again, you need to see a rhuematologist to get the answers to the questions that you have.  Please keep us posted.
